We are changing our year end from April 30th to December 31st. I am currently working on closing April 30, 2008 and setting up the calendar for the balance of this calendar year and only need 8 periods, not 12.

What is the best way to do this? Can I simply ignore the last four periods? Should I setup a new database (I'd rather not, for historical data comparison purposes).

Thanks,
Tracey

4/4/5 represents the number of weeks in each period of the quarter. There are three periods in a quarter which is the equivalent of 13 weeks (i.e. 4+4+5=13). There are four quarters in a year, so therefore 3 periods x 4 quarters = 12 periods in a year. Alternatively, 13 weeks in a quarter x 4 quarters = 52 weeks = one year.

13 periods is generally a British thing, it gives you 13 x 4 week periods, so reporting is on periods of the same number of days. As tolver pointed out 13 x 4 weeks = 52, which is one year.
Seisa, if you do not have 13 periods in the GL then you will only be able to account for 12 periods of the 13 period year, something is amiss.
You can edit CSFSC.PERIODS and change it to 13, then edit the period start/end dates on the Fiscal Calender.
