Hi everyone:

I'm having some issues upgrading firmware on our Nortel/Avaya 1140E and 1230 sets. I've got the latest version for both phones (99). When the phone boots, it downloads the firmware, but then I get a message on the display that says [FW] Auth. Failed and the current firmware remains in place. I was using the UCx server as the provisioning server. For grins, I set up another TFTP server on our file server. I saw very clearly that the phones download the firmware, but it doesn't apply it and I get the Auth. Failed message. I tried to upload one version earlier of the firmware, and the same results. The 1140E's are running c8Q and the 1230's are running 96. I have several sets, and they all seem to provide the same error. Thanks for any help that you might be able to provide! -Michael

I get the same error. In my opinion, unless you experience some of the issues fixed in the recent releases of the firmware, you are probably okay with the versions that you currently have.

Thanks ucxguy - I'll see what they say. I tried a whole bunch of different firmware today (even a small jump from C8Q to C8T), and that wouldn't take either. It's very bizarre! But thanks for finding this and directing me ... I'll post back if I can figure anything out. Appreciate it!
