Just called Strawbridge billing dept where Automated voice urged me to 'NOW (pause) enter your account (long important pause) ONE DIGIT AT THE TIME!!!'

I was dialing thinking 'should I in spite dial ALL digits at the same time just to show them - I am not affraid of that scary Auto Voice!!!

i actually had a surprisingly GOOD thing happen with an automated voice response system. I had called my bank and slowly spoken my account number (no, I won't repeat it here), but none of the menu options were for what I wanted (to speak to an operator), so I just said "operator" even though that wasn't one of the options given. I almost dropped the phone when the recording said "I am transferring you to the operator." I keep wondering: if I had said "pizza" would they have ordered me a pizza?

Hi,
One of the 'tricks' that may get you pass those annoyingly long automated menus is to press/say unlisted things ( or press lots of keys)..Most good systems will interpret this as a problem and switch the call to a human being...

Also, when asked ( in a good system, up front) if you have a touch-tone phone, say NO..

I've worked for consulting firms for years. If you can spell SQL, you're an expert at it. You learn to fake it really well and learn very fast.

(I'm not surprised that my "assistant" would know that.)
