I have a single user on a Nortel Norstar that has reported that her voicemail from yesterday afternoon just was delivered to her mailbox. We have confirmed power was off for a period of time. Just want to confirm it would be related to a recovery process internally or should I be looking for something else.

Regards,

I would have all users check their mailboxes and clean them out. Also don't forget about the General Delivery Mailbox.

I agree. That's usually a sure sign that somebody is trying to store way too many messages. I'd scroll through all mailboxes to make sure they are all still in use. One obsolete/overflowing mailbox (or an unassigned or unatttended General Delivery mailbox) could easily be the culprit. Once they start eating up all of that available message storage space, it can easily slow down or even lock up the whole system. Using service class one is usually a pretty good way to prevent space hogging too. I can't even count the number of times over the last 17 years that I've discovered General Delivery mailboxes with 500 to 1000 or more unplayed messages choking up the whole system.

I had this problem, but with only one user. I checked all mailboxes and found none to be overloaded. I deleted, then recreated the mailbox and the problem was solved.
