Running Symposium Web Client 4.5 with all the SU6 PEPS (don't want to move to SU7 until this gets resolved.)

So I double click a script, and it doesn't open right away, so I double click it again (not sure if this is the cause) but since then I get the following error message every time I open a script.

Quote:
"Would you like to see help?Dao Exception Error. (Multiple rows were updated.)"

Anyone have any idea what this is all about? I figure a reboot is in order, but if that doesn't clear it up what next

My system does this also. Always has done and probably always will. Doesn't seem to cause a promlem just a little anoying. Re-boots dont make any difference so save yourself the hastle of doing one.

Take it up with your vendor if you feel the urge or just live with it. Best of luck.

You say it doesn't make a difference, but I did some work with the SMI Work bench fat client, and it was not updated in the web client. That is a problem for me.

Nortel has the following to say about this:

Symptom: Script Editor generates "Would you like to see help ? DAO Exception Error (multiple rows were updated)

Cause: Temporary database table did not delete all records
before closing.
Problem Resolution
Fix: Workaround: As documented in the SCCS 5 (Feature Pack 1) DTR - DTR-2004-0178-Global-Rev 3 15th August
2005: 7.2.1.11 DAO Exception error seen when opening Scripts (Q00764750) In rare occasions, the following error message appears when a script is opened via Script Manager:

- Would you like to see help? DAO Exception Error (Multiple rows were updated) -

- Go to D:\Program Files\Nortel\WClient\Server folder.
- Open Nictf.mdb file.
- Open Ref_Script_tmp table and delete all the records in this table.
- Save Nictf.mdb, open the browser and try to run the script editor again.

Here is what I have run into when trying to apply the Nortel work around.

I can’t open nictf.mdb on the server because MS Access is not installed.
If I copy nictf.mdb to my laptop and try to open it, it tells me that the database is from MS Access 95 and it prompts me to convert it to Access 2002. If I open it without converting it, I can’t save the changes. If I do convert it, there is a chance that the Symposium application will not be able to read it.
I have checked and I don’t have a copy of MS Access 95.
I am assuming that I will be able to paste the modified database back onto the server, but usually these files are in use and windows may not let me overwrite the original.

Your thoughts?

Captain Gadget,

I think we were making this harder than it should have been.
1. Install a copy of Office 95 on a test PC
2. copy over the Nictf.mdb file and keep a backup copy
3. Open it with Access 95
4. Open Ref_Script_tmp table and delete all the records in this table and save changes
5. Paste it back to its location on the Server, overwriting the original file.
6. Give it a reboot for posterity

Voila, no more error message and the scripts are updated with all the changed you have make through the thick client.
