I have a spreadsheet that someone created a long time ago and is trying to update and send out but it isn't displaying in page setup as it used to. He has not made any formatting changes, just data changes. He had a Windows 2000 machine, but now has an XP machine. The spreadsheet should print preview on one page but previews on 3 pages. When he sent it to me (Windows 2000 machine), it print previews and prints on one page as it should. When he had the 2000 machine it was fine as well. I checked on another XP machine and it print previews and prints on 3 pages. We've tried copying and pasting the spreadsheet data into a new spreadsheet, the problem is worse. I even thought maybe it was the font setting. I made sure the font setting was the same (small) on both the XP and 2000 machines, but that didn't make a differece. The printer we are printing it to is a network printer with updated drivers. When looking in page setup on XP and 2000 machines, all the settings are the same, but print preview and printing is not. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do or what to check next. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi,
This is most likely to do with the printer driver.....
Have you downloaded the most recent driver for XP?

skipvought...that setting is already selected. I verified on all 3 machines I've been testing things on and all three have the setting in page setup.

kippy13...the printer drivers are updated already..the XP machines have XP drivers and the 2000 machine has 2000 drivers. It is a network printer.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I've already checked these things...I'm just so confused about this. I even sent the file to a friend at another company and he was able to print preview and print on one page as it should have....he has an XP machine. This is just so confusing.

Its not really the version of OS thats the factor, more the version of Office they are using(as far as I can see)
Is everyone on the same version of office?

kippy13...yes...everyone is using Office Professional and is on SP3...I even went so far as to uninstall Office and reinstall it on the original machine when he came to me with the problem. Why would it look fine on some machines, but not others?

Does this user have the same default printer as everyone else?

Okay, just to reiterate,
What version of office was the document created in?
What version are you having problems viewing it in?
YOu may be on a w2k machine but your office may be the same version as the one in which it was created in(hence no problems) even the friend you sent it to may be on the same version of office that the document was created on, hence he had no problems. The people who are having issues may be on a newer version of office.

Everyone has Office 2000 Professional and is at SP3. The document was created on Office 2000 Professional. Every machine that has opened the document is using the same version at the same SP level.

I am begining to agree with you, this is strange,
just as a final attempt.
Go into page setup, change the page setup as above, save the document.Check the print preview again.

The setting was already at 1 by 1. I just changed it to normal size, saved it under a different name. When I opened the new document, I changed the setting to 1 by 1. Still not showing up correctly in print preview. This really perplexes me. Thanks for all your suggestions and help, this is just a really strange situation. I can't seem to get it resolved.

Sorry, I cant advise any further.
Final advice, make sure that the print drivers on all the XP machines are the same...
Good luck with it and le us know if you find a resolution
