Strange Issue, dialing out on SIP trunks 6

We are testing SIP trunks for voice from our Telco provider. The technicians that set this up on our switch created an AC2 for dialing out over these trunks. So far we have 1 extension on a phone in our data room that they setup for testing that works perfectly fine. You dial AC2+number and everything goes through correctly with the correct caller ID tied to that DN. My only issue is that I've not been able to successfully test this on a different phone. I've created even the same DN on my desk set with the same CLID entry the other phone is using, but I can not make a successful call.

I guess my main question is, what should I be looking for on the set or in our switch that allows this one DN to dial out on this one set, but does not work any where else?

TIA

Post the TNB of both sets. Switch does not block by DN

Its not so much blocking as I'm getting a message from the telco saying cannot complete the call preceded by a very long silence. Sometimes I do get one ring on my cell phone with "unknown number" for the CLID. I had originally been looking at the caller ID and CLS, but I just can't find any difference. There is a separate CLID table entry that this DN is tying to, but I've also tied to that as well with no change.

I'll post the TN print outs in the next post, thanks for the reply.

do you get a busy after ac2 or post nxx?

If I dial from just my normal desk phone (not either of the TNBs posted above), and do AC2+number it will have a long pause and then go fast busy. If I do it from the first TNB posted above, I get a long pause, then a telco message the call cannot be completed and sometimes that is accompanied by my cell phone ringing once with "unknown number". If I call from the 2nd TNB posted on Key 1 only it will go through properly and have the correct CLID on my cell phone.

I just don't understand why this one key on this one phone works.

I should've also stated that I am only dialing out on the two TNBs posted from Key 1 using DN 1737 and CLID entry 1. Both CLID entry 0 and 1 have the same settings though.

Below is a trace of each call...

Two things I noticed, on the second call that worked the IPs for the SIP server for the telco is there, but on the first one it is not. I also noticed that the DIAL DN on the second call includes the AC2(3) but the first call it strips the AC2 from the DIAL DN.

I've also changed the numbers to protect the innocent.

Update: when doing a trac during the telco message the IP information is there, and the AC2 information is still on the DIAL DN.

is the phone on the same switch as you have NHTN/NUID is set to forward the phone elsewhere or is it in local mode.

Is there any prefixing (ZDP) against zone 11.

The IP address you see for the Far End Media point in the working call, can you ping this from the IP Set?

Thanks bignose, this lead me in a little bit of the right direction. I took the DN 1737 and put it on my desk phone (3904) and it works perfectly using AC2+number.

Checked my zones and I'm not using any prefixes.

The IP phone is going to an SMG and then redirecting to my main call server successfully (locally registered at the main CS). I did have the zone (11) setup for AC1 only access code in branch dialing, but I've tried ALL and NONE with a little bit different of a result. Now I get an immediate telco message that the call cannot be completed.

I took another IP phone though that is setup for local only registration, and in a different zone. Setup the DN 1737 on that IP phone, and got the same result of immediate telco message.

The ip phones can ping the endpoint media IP.

I guess now it is narrowed down to TDM sets working and IP is not.

look at the SIP messaging on the lead sig server set it to detailed level do you see any difference in the SIP Invite message context

Also DCH Trace on the Virtual DCH make sure same digits and Type of Number

Thanks again Bignose, I looked at the SIP messaging for both calls that aren't going through (telco message) and successful calls. Both SIP messaging looks the same, invites, request, and bye.

I'm not too sure on how to do the DCH tracing I do have tty printing turned on, but my msgo msgi are still showing DSBL.

Its definitely something dealing with outbound CLID and the IP phones. When dialing from a TDM phone I get the correct CLID on my cell phone, but when dialing from the IP phone I sometimes get "unknown number" or no call at all.

One thing I did test was manually enter the number for the CLID table, but that caused my TDM phone to act the same way. I would either get unkown number or no call at all with the telco message.

What deals only with the IP phones and CLID?

Just for SnG can you change your key 0 6234 MARP to have 0 for CLID? (unless you tried that aleady)

KEY 00 SCR 6234 1(change to 0) MARP

It appears your working 3903 has 0 for key 0 and I was thinking key 0 is what is being looked at for the CLID.

At least I would think this is something at the phone level.

I wouldn't be surprised that even though you place a call on key 1 that it isn't looking at key 0 for the CLID - I have seen sillier stuff on the Nortel :)

Take a look at your codec for the zone that your ip phone is in. Also thats a mighty small payload size your using

Ok I'll lay out how everything is acting based on what I just tried...

IP Phone:
1) Call on DN 1737 with CLID 1 - gives telco message, also gives caller ID on the called phone of "unknown number" with a quick ring.

2) Call on any other DN with CLID 1 - long pause, fast busy

TDM Phone:
1) Call on DN 1737 with CLID 1 - works perfectly
2) Call on any other DN with CLID 1 - long pause, fast busy

This is the print out of my 2 CLIDs...

you have no entried in there. Since call is tagged as NPA, put area code in HNTN and prefix in HLCL

ENTRY 1
