Well... I noticed colours were a little strange when printed from indesign onto a Canon S9000 (darker, sometimes completely different), even though the same colours printed OK in Photoshop.

I read a few things about colour management, but this has made things even more confusing. For example, one book tells me I should set the print output to Composite CMYK while another says Composite RGB. Added to this, the Composite CMYK option is actually greyed out!!!

Also, in the print profile menu I can't see a 'use printer managment option' as there is with Photoshop.

I think all the other colour settings are OK...

I am so confused!

You have to select a Colour Profile in Photoshop it's under Photoshop>Colour settings. Select one you like. then open InDesign and change the Colour Profiles to Match what Photoshop's are, then in you printer options there should be something in there to do the same thing.

I always like "Swop (coated) 20% GCR Medium" as my profile

Let me know how you go

I did what you suggested, but things were still not right. I then looked into the printer's own settings and noticed there was an 'enable ICM' button. After selecting this, it seemed better. That's good, though I'm still a bit confused why InDesign doesn't have it's own 'use printer managment' button like Photoshop, and also why the print output should be Composite RGB (can't select CMYK) when the printer is CMYK.

I think I am out of my depth...

Thanks for your help. It explains why I can't select 'Composite CMYK' (despite what the books say).

Cheers
