I'm using novell's client 4.83 sp1. All XP systems have a problem where, if you leave the system inactive for a period of time (say 20 minutes or more) you will get a novell client login screen will pop up with "SYSTEM" as the user name but no tree, context or any other info filled in. It doesn't seem to effect anything and you can cancel past it, but it sure is irritating.

Any ideas?

Hi

Check to see if the NIC card is going into Sleep mode and dropping connection to the server. I have seen this with some Acer NIC cards in the past.

Where might I check for this? BIOS or elsewhere?

This Sounds possible, because the only XP machines (and the only ones with the problem) are all the same model with the same integrated NIC.

It is in device manager, and the properties of the NIC. It says something like "Let windows manage the power" or something like it. It turns it off when idle. How dumb is that?
