I'm using an old G3, but we're going to be upgrading soon and I wondered if someone can give me the lowdown on the naming convention for Avaya's family of servers.
I have heard the numbers S8500,S8700,S8800 bandied about. But on the quote for our upgrade it says DL360G7SRVR CM5.2.1
So when I am talking to other Avaya people in the industry what do I say I am getting? A DL360G7?
Thanks for any info.

The DL360G7 is one of two or three (I think?) servers available as an S8800.

I can't find much documentation to back what I am saying, but there is some references to it here
Page 9,

Page 56, very vague and no reference to the -actual- servers.

Second paragraph makes some references

I'm sure Avaya has a document somewhere that spells this out but I can't find it.

In most cases, you can just refer to as an eighty-eight hundred and everyone will get what you are saying.

Avaya has used HP's and Dell's servers for a while. I think the DL360 is one of HP's servers used as a S8800.
