We have a proliant 1850r server. In the event log it is showing an error. The error states 'Compaq SCSI Storage Agent: SCSI Tape Drive: Tape Status Change Slot: 0; Port: 1; Drive: 6 Value: 3 != Threshold: 2' can anyone tell me what the problem is with the tape drive?

If you are running Windows 2000 and receiving that error, the drive is probably not responding to an I/O request during activity.

If you update the 32-bit scsi driver, you should be ok. I searched it out and the component pack you need is CP001588. Here is a link:

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/supportsoftware/CP001501-002000/

Note - this is ONLY if you are running Win2k...If it is something else, let us know.

I haven't experienced those kinds of I/O errors with NT, but that doesn't mean that they don't happen. I'd still try the route of upgrading your 32-bit scsi driver from Compaq's site.

Update your storage agents to 4.70 which can be downloaded as SP12971 and you will be OK.

The status results you are getting is the tape drive going in and out of the available status which is a problem with the storage agents you are running.

Try the upgrade on the storage agents and tell me how your system is doing.
