I have a softconsole talking to CM5.2 over IP in road warrior mode.

The headsets are straight forward plantronix monaural quick disconnect with the 2x 3.5mm jack connectors to the PC.

The users are finding it annoying having it beep in their ear and would like it to ring on the PC speaker only.
I can't see any setting to configure this. Muting ring volume mutes both and greys out the ring through PC speaker check box. I ca turn the volume right down and it's not so bad on the headset but it is still there, and 8-12 hours shifts i can sympathize with it giving them an earache.
I'm wondering if it's just the headset type? I've seen threads on other forums about people with the opposite issue using USB headsets.

Any suggestions would be greatly received.

I think you could be onto a loser with this one! However, there is one thing you might try - change the ringer.wav file so that it has 10secs of silence at the beginning then has the "ring". In theory, the PC will ring but the headset will be silent until it reaches the actual ring tone.

We actually made the ringer.wav file complete silence for the opposite reason to you - to remove the sound completely (for various reasons we couldn't turn it off at all until a service pack update).

I'd be interested if you have any luck finding a solution.

I'd rather it didn't ring in the headset at all, so I may indeed create a silent ringer.wav if that's what the headset is playing.
Many thanks for the tip!

Do you have an XP machine? I have my PC ringing with One-X Communicator using a headset... We just needed the ringing sound on the laptops and all other sounds + voice needed to be in the headset.

I just cant get it to work on Win 7 yet...but I have an Avaya ticket open for that....

Yes the softconsoles are on XP at the moment, but they'll soon be switching to windows 7

On My Win XP machine, I went to control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices. On my audio tab I selected my XP audio speakers and on the Voice Tab I selected my headset. But my headset had to be plugged in when I did this.

I'll give that a try, I use a setup like that at home for various chat apps, but the small form-factor Dell it's on only has one audio out/headphone jack and one mic in jack. I've only used the kind of setup above with two sound cards or two sets of outputs, I'm not sure if it'll work between a sound card and the PC beeper.
