I am running a 2003 64bit Terminal Server and the ctfmon.exe keeps running for all users. I have uninstalled the advanced option but this still runs, any idea would be great.

Did all that and still same issue.

Hi,

I had the exact same issue.

To solve it I setup a softwate restriction policy in Group Policy, that stops ctfmon.exe from running.

Or another option, ive heard that works but never tried is to remove the permissions on the ctfmon.exe file.

Have you also removed the speech / hand writing recognition bitd from office, as they will try to run it.

Cheers,

Paul

If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!

Yes I have removed that but where in GP do I go to set that up?

Sorry,

My mistake its in Local Security policy.

Just click

Start / Admin Tools / Local Security Policy.

Right click Software Restriction Policy to create a new policy

Expand Additional Rules, and create a new Hash rule to disallow cftmon.

Cheers,

Paul
