Windows 2000 server is conneced via an ISDN router tends to keep the line up for long periods (days) with no activity causing very large bills. On speaking to a friend at Microsoft they recommended a time switch on the power plug of the router.

Does anyone have a more technical solution for this issue.

Long time ago I had the same event with a Novell Network.

The problem came from a computer wich hed lept old connection parameters and unwanted protocols.

Hope to help a little...

Thanks. Microsoft came back with a similar reply, but pointed toward DNS and rogue DNS devices making an unresolvable query.

Try to track it. See if indeed your server had DNS requests then (activate logging for DNS).
