This morning I passed a church on my way to work and I was amazed, tell me if rightfully though, sign said:

Running low on faith?
Stop in to fill it up!

I am still shocked!

--Something you'ld say to a friend or someone who you might be interesed in being a freind.

--What's "Awfull, dark humor" about this one, unless you're thinking about the few clergy that are predators?

"Loved The Wedding, Invite Me To The Marriage" — God
--There are,unfortunately, many more weddings than marriages in the sense of a man and a woman truly becoming ONE. Those do not end in separation or divorce.

"I Love You . . . I Love You . . . I Love You . . ." — God
--Few folks ever think of God let alone the extent to which God has gone to demonstrate His love.

"Will The Road You're On Get You To My Place?" — God
"My Way Is The Highway." — God
--All roads do not lead to God.

"Big Bang Theory, You've Got To Be Kidding." — God
--"In the beginning, God..."

I have a more general question about these pithy little sayings we have all seen on the letter-signs in front of churches.

No matter where I've been (in the U.S.), I see the same cute maxims in front of various churches. Do all these pastors buy some kind of book with all these sayings in them?

Faith is clearly being compared to gasoline in this metaphor, but I think everyone here is overanalyzing a bit.

I think it probably comes down to some poor schlub who has to come up with a witty saying to put on the sign every week - they can't all be golden.
