Hello everyone,

Yesterday I did a complete upgrade and full reprogram from a MICS 2.0 to 7.1, and I'm having a small issue.

Before the upgrade, if someone dialed extension 221 (the owner) via the AA, it only rang to those that have 221 as a answerDN, and not 221 directly. 221 could still be dialed internally though.

After the upgrade, if someone dials 221 via the AA, it rings 221 directly and those with the 221 answerDN.

How to I change this back to the way it was before, so 221 will not ring directly via the AA? I figure it's some small step I've missed.

thanks in advance

Impossible. Two things come to mind. Either x221 had DND (Ftr85) on 24/7 or his telephone is not truly x221. x221 could have been a phantom DN. There is no way to stop a set from ringing when calling it's DN #. There is no SCN, in other words.

you say impossible but this is the way it was set up. if from another phone internally, dialing 221 would ring the phone, but if someone called into our AA from an external number, and dialed 221, it would only ring the receptionist, who has a answerDN for 221. 221 itself would not ring

There are allot of other smart people on this forum, I stick with what I posted and will wait for other opinions.

This maybe the 'undocumented feature' you are looking for

A call from an internal DN is the same as a call from the AA, because the Vmail IS an internal DN. So, if x221 rang on internal calls, DND was not on.

Howabout this? If no one answered the AA transferred call, where did it end up? If the call didn't ring x221, it would not end up in x221s Vmail, it would end up in the recpt. Vmail.

our old software version was 2.0 which doesn't have hunt groups, so it wasn't a hunt group issue. before, when someone from aa dialed 221, it only rang the receptionist, who was on a 221 answer dn. it still went to the vm of 221 though. i know, it sounds impossible, as i'm dumbfounded by it also, especially with everything that is being said here.

Helped all I can. Plz, post answer if you get one.

jerry, Rik, cook, ex, hawks, any ideas?

Have the mailbox extension be something different than 221, say 300. The recep. can have an answer 300 key on it. Have mailbox 221 have 221 as alt. extension. This should work.

If you upgraded the MICS, did you also upgrade the VM? I wonder if people weren't dialing 0, and not 221. If under f982, Attendant=221, and Attendant Available= N, then 0 would go right to vm.

Then again, the ans dn's wouldn't ring from AA either.

naw, i set the attendant to the receptionist when i did upgrade our vm from a startalk 2 port to a 16 port fiberNAM. i upgraded the VM a month before I upgraded the phone system.
