would a flaky video card cause this for a clean XP install? I had to reseat the card a few times for it to get past the video 1 long, 2 short beep code. Video came back ok, but I get the following error:

STOP: 0xC0000221 unknown hard error
C:\Winnt\System32\Ntdll.dll

Card is just a few months old bought in May (CHAINTECH Geforce FX5500 256MB DDR)

Well... you posted that article and it says "Obtain a new copy of the file"

So you should probably find a copy of that file that is not corrupted. Grab one from any XP computer that boots up fine and replace it on yours.

Or even easier:
Boot into the recovery console from your XP CD, and then use the "expand d:\I386\ntdll.dl_ c:\winnt\system32" command at the command prompt

That should replace that file, then you can reboot and hopefully be good to go.

Well, this is a clean install, on a brand new drive. I tried 2 different XP Pro Cd's, and had the same error with both, so I do not think it is a corrupted file causing the error.....

I guess I can try 2k Pro, or 2K3 server and see if I get a similar error with different OS's
