I recently had to reformat my HP and NOW....when i reboot i have to put in a password....i mean, i can hit cancel, but it's a pain in the ------!! I can't walk away from the darn thing UNTIL i wait for that screen to come up and if i don't it freezes after about 10 minutes. Thanks!!

If this is the Microsoft login box delete *.pwl then reboot. This will then ask for a new password. Put in a blank password and confirm it. You will then not be asked for the password again.

I hate to sound Reeeeeeally stupid Paulmac....but when you say delete *.pwl where do i do that at?

click on start>find>files or folders and put *.pwl in the named box. Then press find now. Make sure the 'look in' box says c:\. When you search you should find at least one file with the pwl extension (type).Delete it/them

The pwl files are in the windows folder so you can browse it and delete the files with the extension or type .pwl
When you think you have nowhere else to go - Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.

go to start move to find go to file/folders type in *.pwl
in named box move mouse to find now then click on find know
make sure that the look in box is for your c:
when you find the pwl rightclick on file move down to delete
and delete pwl

Open Network Neighbourhood properties (right click on it, select properties), change the logon to "Windows logon", instead of "Client for MS Networks". Cheers,
Jim
