I Still have a problem with 2 router setup.
I have a linksys befsx41
I also have a linksys wap54g
My problem is i cant get my house computer on the befsx41 gard wired to talk with my office computer hard wired on the wap54g.
They both get internet access from one cable modem plugged into the befsx41 in the wan port.
I have the dhcp enabled on the befsx41 because I need it for my tivo.
I have dhcp turned off on the wap54g.
What should my settings be for me to ftp between my house computer to my office computer?
For some reason I cant get them to see each other on the network.
I would apretiate any insight to this and would need it explained as in depth as possible.
Thanks for the help
God knows I need it

jayavenger,

your house PC that's connected to the BEFSX41 is a non-wireless router that's why you're not seeing your office PC which is connected to your WAP54G. you also said that you have internet on your office PC. Are you using a wireless modem?? If not, you're office PC is accesing your neighbor's network. Btw, are you establishing a wireless network here???

jayavenger,

I am assuming the WAP is connected to the BEFSX41 and you have a wireless card or device for the office.

Give the WAP a static IP not in use by the BEFSX41, lets say 192.168.1.10. Disable DHCP on the WAP. Click the Ethernet vs. Wireless button. Set the SSID and channel number you want. Save your settings on the WAP. Then unplug it, wait 20 seconds, and plug it back in.

For your client adapters set the same channel and SSID (it is case sensitive) as the WAP.

Under Network Connection, Properties:
1. Client for Microsoft Network
2. File and Printer Sharing
3. Make sure their TCP/IP Properties are set to obtain an IP automaticly, and under the Advanced button, WINS tab, enable Netbios over TCPIP and uncheck LMHOSTS.
4. Now back at the Desktop right-click My Computer, Properties, Computer Name and give all the machines the same Workgroup name as your Home Computer.
5. Share something, anything, from all machines; a printer, a drive, a folder, something.
6. Add as a new user to a machine the username and password of all other machines.

Reset your clients.
