Steps to upgrade mics 7.1 to 7.1XC ??

Hello all. I have a customer that wishes to have add a second 6 port exp module.
They are at MICS 7.1 now. I understand i have to convert them to 7.1 XC.

I have been told conflicting procedures on how to perform upgrade. Would / could someone explain proper steps.

first i would backup the system (twice if possible for saftey)

second, powerdown and install new software (allways upgrade software before hardware)

power back up and make sure everything is ok
ugrade could take a little time

one that is upgraded backup again an then power down to add the new harware

power up and you should be good to go
