I have 4 T1's coming into my Meidian Option 81. I know that two of them are local and two are my long distance. Can anyone tell me how I can check the staus of the T1's? I have one of them out of service and not sure where to look.

LD 60

I do see that I have two T1's out of service. How can I enable them and disable them? I only know of one of them down. I want to enabl one and see what happens and if it's the wrong one, then I can disable it and re0enable the other one

If you have D channels you have to visit LD 96.

Call your phone company, it looks like their problem

1. Disable the loop - DISL x
2. Selft test the card - SLFT x
3. Enable the loop - ENLL x

If the loop doesnt come back, call your provider and have them check the line. If they verify they can see their demarcation point (NIU) then you will need to go onsite and troubleshoot the physical connection.

Call your phone company, it looks like their problem

that is one reason most troubles longer then they should
Code:
ALARM STATUS : RED

the switch says layer one is down... i would not call the provider untill i put a loop back on the the card.. red alarm is layer one... copper.. check the cable back to the smart jack... if you can loop 1,2 to 4,5 on the rj.. if the red alarm clears then the trouble is outside...

btw 90 percent chance that red alarms are provider.. it could be between the demark and your switch or the card..

What load do I do this in? Do I do this in LD 60

1. Disable the loop - DISL x
2. Selft test the card - SLFT x
3. Enable the loop - ENLL x

I agree with John. Usually when it's a red alarm, it's a problem on the local side.

Try doing a loop back to determine if the problem is external to your switch.

DISL - 10. Came back ok.
SLFT - Ok
enll - Come back ENBL but ports come back DSBL CO

Call your T1 provider and open a ticket. Also, go down to the PBX and check the cables and check the demarcation box on the wall for the T1 and make sure the lights are on.

If all looks ok, put a hard loop facing the PBX and then a hard loop facing the telco to see if they see the loop.

If all this seems difficult to you, then you should really call someone in.

Good-Luck

Simple reminder on T-1 alarms and where they indicate the problem to likely be:

RED - Right Here (On premises including the smart jack).
YELLOW - Yonder (Telco).

Telco will ALWAYS tell you that they can loop the smart jack.

The easiest way I know to prove if it's your issue or not is to pull the customer side connection at the smart jack and put a hard loop on it. If your trunks go idle you've just validated everything on your end.

And I agree with those who've said if this is becoming befuddling then it's time to call a pro.

Harry
