I know in Unity I can see what is (or what Unity thinks is) the current status of the MWI lamp, but am wondering if there's a similar way in CM to verify the current status of the MWI lamp?

Thanks

No there is not. The reason for it is cm is unaware of any of this as it is initiated and controlled by Unity and more accurately by exchange.

Now that's interesting. So by saying CM is unaware of this would we be safe in assuming there are no system resources associated with the MWI display? Just send the MWI flag w/an address and CM flips a bit to turn on the lamp and/or display the screen message. (?)

Does the CM ACK the MWI flag being rec'd or is it just blindly sent and Unity assumes MWI is in one state or the other at the instrument?

Can MWI on the instrument ever become out-of-synch with Unity, i.e., lamp off but with a new/unheard message sitting in Unity and Unity thinking the MWI status is on (or vice-versa)?

Another question along this same line, is the MWI flag sent every time a message arrives in the mailbox (AT&T method) or only with the first initial new message of the day and not on subsequent new msgs so long as the 1st msg to set the MWI flag has not been retrieved (Octel method)?

Finally, (this is the last MWI question, I promise) does Unity (CXN) perform a daily (or more frequent) MWI refresh?

These may seem like a barrage of unusual questions, but understanding how a system works can at times be helpful in diagnosing a trouble report vs spending time on the phone with TAC.

Thanks

you are bouncing back and forth and mentioning unity, then unity connection. Two different products.
Verufy what you have and I will try to answer the above.

I believe the MWI signal is a one way send from Unity, no confirmation is returned so Yes, the MWI indicator can become out of sync. Both Unity and Unity Cxn can do a daily sync of the MWI lights.

We have Unity Cxn rls 8-something

Once you have the phone record open you can click on the IP address which opens the Device Info page. There you will see "Message Waiting" yes or no.

Thank you!!!!!!!!

This is exactly the info I was looking for. Alas herein lies another part of our problem. We're complete newbies to Cisco and are finding that we get a variety of answers to our questions, depending upon who we ask. The answer from our VAR differs on which of their "engineers" you speak to. Of course this is the same VAR who initially set us up with over 1500 users all registered to the publisher w/failover pointed to the sub. fortunately that has since been corrected.
