I have a customer who wants to hang a couple of digital extensions across town (approx 5 miles) off a BCM50 on a couple of Verizon provided SOP lines. Is this possible without additional hardware? And if not, what additional equipment is needed?

Thanks in advance.

No/maybe

Never did it with a BCM, but I have done it with Option 61 using Fiber and Channel banks and repeters.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Another option may be to use IP phones and a VPN.

robl3000 has it, VPN and IP sets, 1 or 2 sets should work OK over the internet......WARNING WILL ROBINSON......think about 911 before you tell your customer you have the perfect solution. And any more than 1 or 2 sets bandwidth becomes an issue

I don't know what SOP means besides Standard Operating Procedure, but you could install OPX lines of an ASM8. Of course they'll be analog sets.

Even doing as Deweyhumbolt said to do, You would still need line repeaters for that distance.

I would go with the IP solution also because they probably will have some connectivety for their Data and you could just piggy back that. But like ctel said be aware of 911 calls.

IP is not an option as High Speed internet is not available at remote location. We could put in point to point but is prohibitively expensive.
SOP (Station Off Premise) basically the same as an OPX.

Do they work with a BCM?, I know they work with the Option's.
