I have an NEC IPS 2000 switch with one station hunt group which contains 2 analog numbers. I recently moved this department to a new location in the building and now the hunt group no longer works. It makes absolutely no sense as I have not made any programming changes only physical changes. Any ideas would be helpful as I am out of ideas.

Well I believe it was a terminal hunt group but how can you tell the difference with only 2 extensions in the group? It had the first number as the pilot if that helps any.

So have you checked Command 18 and verified that it is still programmed correctly. Have you checked that no call forwards have been set on either extension, someone could have set a call forward so that calls wouldn't have been missed during the move. The difference between a terminal group and a circular group is that the last station in the group is not linked back to the first in command 180.

I checked and the second number had no answer to VM, but even after I removed the forward the first number just rings forever. I have checked CMD 180 and it shows x246:x298 and also CMD 181 shows x246-1 and x298-0... Any other thoughts?

A couple of thoughts, if a callback is set, it can prevent call forwards so whilst I have never had this problem, it may be worth clearing any callbacks. The more drastic possible fix is a system reset. I would also try deleting then re-writing the hunt group.

There is one other thought, see the first post in this thread

You could try this on both extensions and see if it helps, you have to stay on the line till the reset happens but it has got me out of the odd problem in the past.

Ok tried the EB2 command on each of the extensions and it killed the connection both times so I assume it did as intended, but that didn't fix the problem. I am going to reset the switch this weekend and go from there.

Check CMD 183. put in a member and hit the DE key to advance through it. This is a display only command. It will show you what stations are in the group. You can also delete the members of the group then re assign them. I suggest using call forward busy instead of a two station hunt group. This gives you more options with regard to forwarding.

CMD 183 showed the only 2 members were as expected. I have since decided and convinced the powers that be to just CFB from line 1 to 2 and then to voice mail so problem resolved. Although I wish I knew why the hunt group quit working, but will leave that for the next guy! :) Thanks for your help!
