Hi,

Can somome explin to me about these routes

outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 888.888.888.73 1 OTHER static
outside 888.888.888.72 255.255.255.248 888.888.888.77 1 CONNECT static
inside 172.20.0.0 255.255.0.0 172.20.2.3 1 CONNECT static

All I did was to asing a ouside IP address 888.888.888.77 255.255.255.248

Also when I gave the gateway address it just came as other static.

Further more it picked up the IP 888.888.888.72

These are my questions? Did RIP discover the directly connected routes?

How can I ping a host or a ip address outside the block 248? Do I have to enter dns server address for my isp?

This is your default route. The "OTHER" is just a key word. It helps distinguis the type of route. "CONNECT" are subnets that are directly connected to the interface. It says "Static" because the route was configured and not learned dynamically like through RIP.
outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 888.888.888.73 1 OTHER static

The "888.888.888.72" is the network id for your Outside interface.
RIP has to be enabled to discover routes. The connected routes are addded when the interface is configured.
