We have just been allocated a Static IP address from our ISP.

How do I incorporate this address into SBS without screwing up the current settings. Do I have to reinstall the server or is there an option to type in this address?

Any help please

Thanks

We need more info. Are you running SBS Premium with ISA? If not, then you likely don't need to make any changes, as the public IP address would be held by your router/firewall.

Not premium. Just standard. No ISA

The public IP address is then likely attached to your router or firewall. No need to change anything on the server.

For proper delivery of email, you'll need to make sure the ISP has created the correct PTR record for your domain name. And make sure the MX record points to the right address. But nothing needs to be done on the server.

My router ip address is set to my static ip but when i type that into internet explorer. page not displayed error

any reason why?

To access your router internally, type in the Internal IP address into IE, not the Publick IP Address .

If you want to access your router with the Public IP address, you need to make sure that you have that option enabled within the router. You might also have to specify the port number.

I can access my router no problem at all and its seeing the public ip address, but I forward ports for OWA and ftp and so on and type the public ip address into a remote computer and says page cant be displayed.

Its like the router isnt keeping the port settings.

Anyone have experience with BTHGV2700 router.

I do have a new Draytek router but havent set it up yet. Dont know what effects changing the router will have on the DHCP settings of the network
