Hi Guys,

I have a section of a building that has static on the lines. I can hear the dial tone but I also hear interference on the line. When I put it on speaker phone, the static seems to go away. I can make out what people say, but it is a little annoying hearing this other buzz sound besides the dial tone.

I tried a plugin in a different phone to that phone line and I had the same result which tells me the sound is coming from the line.

I am looking for tips/insight on going about finding the source of the interference. Could it be another line, or two lines touching?

Any ideas would truly be appreciated.

You should check if the line goes near a power source, that might be causing interference to the line.

Also, check maybe the line cable is damaged somewhere.

If it is connected to a patch panel, it might be problem there.

I can think of many problems that can cause interference to the line, so you will have to check some of them and see what is happening.

I have problems with long handset cords and fluorescent lighting some types of bulbs are worst then others turn off the lights and see if problem goes away.
