Startup takes EXTREMLEY long!

I work on AI 10 on xp, and today when I opened my computer and started illustrator it started very good until it came to 'scanning gor plugi-ns... illustrator exe.' and it stays there for at least 5 minuetes, please help! I uninstalled it and re-installed it but nothing changed!
