Is there a way to start Websphere Application Server(startnode, startserver) when you login as non-admin OS user?

If it is WIN Os then its always better practice to install websphere as administrator rights cauz from that only websphere can be registered as windows services .

For other os like AIX, Linux : Yes websphere cab be started as no -admin . condition is that the installed location(directory ) must be owned by that user . (i.e installation has been performed by that user )

Thanks for all your responses.

This is on Windows installation.

Websphere was installed already using an administrator user. Now, we don't want to give admin access to our users but we wanted them to be able to start Websphere services (dmgr, nodeagent, apps). Currently, only admin users can do that. By giving non-admin users permission on Websphere install location, will it allow them to stop and start Websphere?

This is a question for the Windows forum, I guess. But AFAIK the user who starts/stops the service don't need the administrador privileges.

Cheers,
Dian
