To start or stop a Service on a workstation within an NT4 Domain all that was required was server manager. How can I start and stop Services on a remote workstation within an AD OU UserDev ? Thanks ...

Try this

In the Computer Management tool, highlight "Computer Management (local)", which should be the first line in the left navigator pane, then select Action/Connect to another computer...

Anyone know how to do this from a command line so I can put it in a batch file?

Netsvc, part of the Win2k resource kit

Controls and displays the status of services.

NETSVC servicename \\computername /command

servicename Name of the service
computername Name of the computer to administer.
/command One of the following:
/query Queries the status of the service.
/start Starts the service.
/stop Stops the service.
/pause Pauses the service.
/continue Starts the paused service.
/list Lists installed services (omit servicename)

Example: NETSVC server \\joes486 /query
Example: NETSVC "Clipbook Server" \\popcorn /stop
Example: NETSVC alerter \\joes486 /pause
Example: NETSVC /list \\joes486

Arguments are allowed in any order.

Also 'sc.exe' is part of the resource kit.

sc \\remotepc stop "service display name"
sc \\pc1 stop "norton antivirus client"

Hope this helps....Stiddy
