Hi,
I have problem starting dsmc sched on the servers (AIX 4.3.3 to 5.3).
Running nohup dsmc sched 2>&1 >/dev/null & from the command line kills the job when I exit. How can I start the job? Is this a known problem? IBM seems to suggest it is the correct way to start it.

Thanks

This is the way I start tsm sched maybe it will help. I have a script called startsched which I have in my inittab. This starts the sched on the system when it reboots. You can also run in manually if needed. I have some systems with 2 or 3 scheds so I have the all in this script. Here is what is in the script.

nohup /usr/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmc sched > /dev/null 2>&1 &

I put the full path in and if you run it manually and log off it will say there are jobs running but if you log out than log back in you should be able to do a ps -ef | grep dsmc and see the job still running. Always start the scheds as root. Hope this helps.

Try:
at now
dsmc sched 2>&1 >/dev/null
ctrl D

or use the inittab

use init q to refresh the inittab
/regards Daniel
