One of my friends asked me a question which I couldn't find the reasons..Would you help?
_____________________________________
I have the following symptoms for all the new mailboxes:

1- All calls after 5 rings are forwarded to the general delivery mailbox, not to the target mailbox (this is valid for the new mailboxes that I create, they have the correct extension)
2- Feature 981 produces a "log" prompt on the Norstar Display

_____________________________________________

Both problems lead to "the extension must have an assigned mailbox" or "each mailbox must have a unique extension number" problems

But all mailboxes in the system have the same extension numbers in this system (e.g. DN 240 has mailbox ext. 240)and all mailboxes are active and working. F983-1020000-OK-MBOX-CHNG-240-NEXT displays Ext: 240 (I can transfer calls with Feature 986)

So why do the new assigned DNs do not automatically forward their calls to their mailboxes (after 5 rings)

The mailboxes are defined and active (I am able to listen to the messages that are left by F986). But is there any other procedure to activate them?(Flash version # 1.9)

By the way how can I learn which line matches which mailbox (The guide I have says: "For information about the incoming line numbers used in your company, refer to your Startalk Flash Programming Record" . I do not have this manual, is there anyway I can reach this manual?)

Thank you for any ideas..

Alex INUPA.

So the mailboxes are initialized FROM the extension that it is assigned to?
Feature 981, Log: enter the extension number + default password 0000.
Change the password and record the name. Then call the extension and see if it forwards correctly.

You need to assign Forward No Answer for each extension to the voice mail's first port. All of the following has to be done from a phone with three "soft keys" below the display screen. To determine the port, press feature 985 and write down the extension. Press release. Go into programming (feature ** 266344 23646) and press show. Enter the first extension to be programmed and press show three times. (Show is the button along the upper of two triangles appearing on the right hand column of buttons.) Display will probably read Fwd to:None. Select change and enter the voice mail extension you found using feature 985. Press Back three times (button opposite Show) and use Find to get the next extension. Press show three times... Repeat as needed. Press release when done. All extensions will now forward to their own voice mailboxes if not answered.

Which if they do not have their mailboxes initialized will send the call to the general delivery mailbox. MRoberts

1- Mailboxes are initialized, they even contain messages inside. I can reach them F981 - Log:2400000 (240 is the set number) and I can personalize greetings or change passwords..It is also possible to leave a message through F986.

They only do not pick up after 5 rings, instead general delivery mailbox picks the call.. BTW I initialized them from my phone not the target set.. Is it a problem?

2- I tried programming Terminals&Sets - Capabilities -Fwd No Answer feature.. they are all set to the 251 which is the startalk number..

any ideas...

Hummph!
Have you tried just s simply reset of the system as a whole. Phone and vmail? Just power down count to 10, power up again?
I'm thinking you might have something corrupted in the Flash.
