Hello
i have a Startalk 4 port version 1.7 voicemail system that i'm trying to get hooked up to a ICS 4.0. I've done Feature **938378 to check status of feature codes and i now have the codes in a FREE status but they remain inactive. I've tried removing the 900 codes then booting the system but all the combinations i try will not activate the feature 900 codes. I would appricate and suggestions on getting the ICS to recognize these feature codes. Thanks for your help.

Try feature 903 to activate F codes.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than to have a frontal lobotomy

Thank you for your responses. Feature 903 gives me a Inactive feature message. As far as not compatible, do you think my software version on the ICS is to high?

1.7 should work with 4.0. Put an M7310 on the ports and make sure that they work then try to reinstall the Flash.

The ICS sees the Startalk. When i go to maintenance the ports show STK1 on both ports.

try F983 password: config (266344) hit yes or next to a few prompts & you will see configuring.... give it about five mins & try F983 with default password to program

Any 900 feature code gives me inactive feature. How do i activate the 900 feature codes? 980,981,983 982,985, etc.
Thanks

Feature 903 is what activates the feature codes but that won't do you any good if all codes are inactive. I've had problems in the past with the voicemail not being recognized until after several power down/reboots. You might try powering up the v/m without any software for a couple of minutes then power down and insert software and power back up, see if that doesn't help. Keep us posted.
Thanks,
John

I have had to plug in a M7310 in the past to do what I call wake up the port. I've also had them say STK in maintenance but still would not come up. So I would plug a phone in and make a call or 2 then put the Flash back on the port and power it up.

Nice one hawks, never would have thought of it. A star for you for your usual excellent advice as well as your creative thinking.

Thanks, now I hope that works for doubleshot

Thanks for your help guys. I’ve tried all thee above, even found a little pixy dust and brought in a voodoo priestess to chant a little mantra and sprinkle the dust. No luck getting the ICS to allow me to register the 900 codes but I have started to grow a tail. I’ve now switched out the ICS and Startalk and still find my self in the same boat.
Feature 903 is supposed to allow me to register the 900 codes but it comes back with inactive feature. I’ve also tried F915 which is supposed to default the Startalk, but that code is inactive also. I’ve done F9*1 and get inactive feature. I’ve tried **startup and it tells me startup is denied. Why would it deny me start up? Any other secret codes I could try?

The startup code must be entered within the first (I think) 15 minutes of powering up. Realize that startup will deault your switch not the voicemail. Are you trying to do this from a 7310 or 7208? Which port are you trying to do this from? Which slot is the software in, in the voicemail? Is the software in the voicemail inserted all the way? Are both ports plugged into the voicemail and switch?
You've really got me stumped, I mean I've have stubborn flash voicemails before but nothing like this.

Yea I know that startup does the ICS and not the voicemail. I’m just grasping at straws. I am working with a M7310 on port 1. I have the Startalk hooked up to ports 14 and 15. I’ve only got the one software card port on the Startalk and I have removed and reseated a few times. I have had this type of problem before with Startalks also, but after several variations of booting the dang things it usually starts working. No other magic codes for re-registering the 900 feature codes???? Thanks

No other codes I'm aware of that initialize the feature codes. My only other suggestion would be to power down both units reboot the voicemail first and then your switch and see if that doesn't do the trick. Beyond that I have no other ideas except maybe a 20lb. sledge.

I have to agree with a previous post per my compatibility matrix:

I don't think the R1.7 is compatible and you need to go to R1.9 or higher.

i happen to have a 1.9 ST so i'm going to try that. i now have a 4.1 ICS with 1.9 ST. My fingers are crossed. Thanks Guys

I believe that the 1.7 startalk is stops its compatability at the CICS/MICS 3.0 level. When you jump up to the 4.0 S/W you will need to upgrade the startalk to 1.9

Ok I have 2 different compatability charts 1 says 4.0 and 1.7 are good the other says you need 1.9. Sorry for any mix up but with the problems that you are having I think I'll believe the one that says 1.9.
