I have just installed a Norstar Startalk VMU & have struck a strange problem.

I have recorded company greetings 1 - 4 (eg "Good morning, welcome to ....") & set to table 1. I have played the greetings back to confirm they are OK. I have also programmed a CCR tree. The VMU is set to answer after 5 rings on all lines.

When the system answers a call, it immediately plays the CCR home menu. i.e. It doesn't play any company greeting first. I have checked the 'Business Hours Table' & all seems OK. The only exception is that at 6:00 pm in the evening, the system does play greeting 4 - "Our office is currenty closed..." as required, followed by the CCR home menu.

Also, if the General Delivery Mailbox is enabled, the system answers with the default message "You have reached the general delivery mailbox, please leave a message..." I currently have the GDM disabled so the CCR home menu can work & transfer calls etc.

Any advice would be appreciated

Wombat,
It sounds as if there is a telephone ringing on your COs and is call forwarded in less rings than VMail to an uninitiated mailbox which is then bouncing the call to CCR or directly to the GD mailbox (when activated).
A common occurrance for this is with a cordless phone through an ATA ... the users can be all thumbs sometimes.

Fixed.

As suspected, one extension with CO lines set to appear & ring had call forward on busy set to the VMU extension number. It did not have a mailbox so bounced to the CCR home menu (or general delivery box when enabled), before the AA could answer with a company greeting.

Such an annoying problem with a simple solution. Anyway I had a good time at the Surfers Paradise beach on the Gold Coast before heading back to Brisbane.

Thanks to Arr & others who offered advice.
