Once again I ask for your help!

I just purchsed and installed an 824 Norstar system that has an old startalk. When I dial the norstar ext 2228 from a set it says "PSWD" I have no idea what the password was set as. How do I get into this system to program it with my extentions and reset the password that was set?

Any help would be appreciated

If you are trying to reset the the main VM admin password try the following:

-Feature 985

-"Press" 9 73738 76 7793 that will spell
9 Reset SM PSWD

-This should reset the VM admin password to 1020000 or 1002000 (if you have 4 digit ext's)

I hope this answers your question

GMAN you're awesome.. one last question.. where can I get a programming guide to this voice mail.. I have no idea how to program the main greeting and the individual ones. I just know how to integrate it with the system. I've only worked on Option switches with Call Pilot and Octel integration

I'm not sure how to default the VM.

And the PC programmer for the the Nortel is nothing more than a picture of the phone on your PC (real high tech)

Press FEATURE 9 8 3

log:

1.1.1.3 2 Enter

13 Press OK

ADD DEL CHNG

13 Press DELETE

Should then say mailbox deleted

The Startalk series units have a serial EIA232 port that can have a printer or terminal/emulated terminal or modem connected to it. You can do programming, admin and maintenance thru this port. Although some types of programming can only be done by phone, it is still very helpful.

You can do some web searches to find some Startalk documents: Installation Guide; Troubleshooting and Repair Manual; Reference Guide, etc. some may even be free.

Hope this helps!

I really appreciate all of your help. I'm getting the system up and working. I still have no idea which old boxes are still in there, but at least I have the new ones working :) The only problem I"m having now, is figuring out where to set up the Auto Attendant. When someone dials one of our CO #'s, it is being answered by the auto attendant with the recording of the old company this belonged to --

That assignment is done in STARTALK, so whatever is currently programmed as the designated receptionist is the station that would get MWI.

Once you get a copy of the manuals you can read all about how this works.

....JIM....

Actually look at mailbox 100, or 1000 etc. depending on your DN length, to see where it is assigned. It could be anyplace.
