W2K on HP Pavilion 9686C connected to a KDS Rad-5 flat panel.

I have just recently started having this problem..

On occasion when I go to start up my computer in the morning, I get a blank(ghostish white) screen. I can hear the computer whirr through its usual start up system but the screen remains ghostish white. As if the computer had frozen up.

The odd thing is I can access the hard drive from another computer on the network.

So is there a problem in the OS or in the connection between the computer and the monitor the one that is the problem?

This is an intermittent problem..sometimes it starts right up and I can see the HP logo on the screen and I end up with the login screen. At other times, I have the ghostish effect....

I do not remember having this problem with my CRT monitor, but cannot garuantee this started just after I installed my new monitor.

Any help would be appreciated!

Since it's a sporadic problem I would guess it's a problem with the monitor. The first step I would try would be changing monitors with a different machine for a few days so you can isolate what's at fault.

thanks for replying...

i actually did disconnect the cord and reconnect it and i seemed to get the video signal so, i can assume that it was the video signal not getting through and not the computer not freezing up...

will run a test and let you know.
