Something or other is setting my start page to finditall.net on a reboot. I have a lot of urls in the registry set to etc. Clearing them out doesn't help, it all comes back on a reboot. I don't know if it is connected, but typing in on ie is very slow, several seconds before this text appears for instance.
Using ie 6 and nt4 workstation.
This is all very annoying, could do with a hand.
Nortons and spybot all report clean, all temp and ie cache cleared, same result.

You're on the right tracks with Spybot - but it's not aways perfect...try some more tools from FAQ608-3482. It may be worthwhile looking at the BHO (Browser Helper Object) agents - my guess is the culprit is one of these.

<marc> i wonder what will happen if i press this...[pc][ul][li]please give feedback on what works / what doesn't[/li][li]need some help? how to get a better answer: faq581-3339[/li][/ul]

Hello Peter,
These are very good utilities, I use them and you can find them here.

SpywareBlaster; Browser Hijack Blaster and Hijack This.

There are some interesting threads here.

Suggest you run the Hijack This utility and post a log in the following forum: -

There is an instruction page on the use of Hijack This.

What happens is that something sets the accessibility css file to a value that includes the search string.
None of the spyware programmes (spybot) find anything at all.
IE responds very slowly indeed and the home page is set to one you don't want. Hijackthis finds the registry entries, but you have to go through all the other entries and see if they are ok or not. I used info on

Best of luck

Are you clear now Peter?

Yes, I found that after I had struggled for ages to find out what was going on and fixed it the hard way. I would like to see that link in here somewhat more permanently than a forum thread so that it can be found in the future by anyone afflicted by cool and the Internet Explorer slow down, or ie slow down.
