Hi,

I'm using a PC with SUSE 8.1 (default kernel), a onboard Ethernet Card and a PCI Card.
Both cards are recognized after installation but if I configure the cards in Yast2 and reboot, I get the message "failed" during the start process
I tried to start the card by using "ifconfig eth0 up" and I get the message: eth0: unknown interface: no device found

Please help

Christian

Are you sure that the cards are detected? Try dmesg|grep eth. You can also try to set them up manually (see ifconfig and route commands). I'm not familiar with SuSE's tools, sorry

Are the modules loaded?? 'lsmod'

What kind of cards are they??

Cheers

I have two ethernet cards, one card onboard and a second pci card.
Now it was possible to activate the second card but the SiS onboard card fails.
