Hi
Trying to start Auto Attendent.
Guess that is what it is called.
right now all calls to our main number go to the attendent ext.
I want all calls to the main number to get the option "if you know your parties ext. dial it now or dial 0.....".

I have a station port X. and a Subscriber set up that will do what I want, but not sure how to get all of the calls to hit it instaed of the operatro first.

Saw a string about changing the incoming destination on the trunk. OUr trunk does not have anything listed in it cyrrentlly. Tried adding a destination, but it did not work.

Thank you in advance with any help.
David

What kind of Voicemail do you have? What version? We use our inutity LX system to deal with all of our Auto Attendant (AA) issues.

New to Definity

G3si version 6, we use Audix for voice mail.
Both are in the same box, but you have to login to each separately.

Does that help?

Thanks

unfortunatly I am unfamiliar with the older versions of audix, but the way we handle it is by forwarding the incoming calls on our main line to a Auto Attendant on our voicemail. They then get played a greeting "Please enter the number of.... or press 9 to search by name" if they press 9 they get dropped in a second auto attendant box which gives then that option. I can send you screen shots if you like by Email ... I don't know how similar the interface is however.

We don't have an operator but you could translate that in the voicemail box. You may want to take a look at changing the type of mailbox to Auto Attendant if that is possible.

Good Luck

Justin

Thanks Justin
How do you forward the main number?
When I look up the main extension, (list extension-type) under type it says hunt group, but it is not listed under list hunt-groups.
When I try "change hunt xxxx" it says indentifier invalid.
when I try "change station xxxx" is says extension exits but assigned to a different object.

Thanks again for your time.

The Way that mine is set up looks like this
STATION

Extension: 79200 Lock Messages? n BCC: 0
Type: 2500 Security Code: TN: 1
Port: X Coverage Path 1: 1 COR: 1
Name: AutoAttendant Coverage Path 2: COS: 1
Hunt-to Station: Tests? y

STATION OPTIONS
Loss Group: 1 Message Waiting Indicator: none
Off Premises Station? n

So it is basically an "X-port" that has a cov path to Voicemail.

Voicemail then picks it up.

The voicemail under the second page of the subscriber (79200) under Permissions the type is set to Auto Attendant. We then setup the greetings and we are all good to go.

If you're trying to look up a hunt group, then it would be "display hunt xx". Hunt groups normally have an internal hunt group number and then you assign an "extension number" to that. If you do a "list hunt", look at the Group Extension Numbers and find the one that's associated with your main number. If the hunt group is 5 then you would do "display hunt 5".

It may be following a cover path associated with that hunt group.

Look at the trunk group(s) that the main number comes in on.
The incoming destination is what you will need to change.

I am not sure if this is ok for you, anyone else want to comment on my suggestion by all means do so but here is what I have.
The vector off the main PBX DID (the Main Office phone number) has an announcement asking the caller to select 1 for the extension of the party or 2 for the name of the party, basically <<collect 1 digit after announcement ###>> then based on what they select you route them to a step with <<messaging skill # for extension ####>> The extension is the corresponding number on the voice mail associated to the AutoAttendant feature (if the VM System was installed by the vendor then they would have added the Dial-by-name and Dial-by-Number mail boxes allready), the skill number is the Voice Mail Skill that tells the PBX to send the call to the VM system. We use an Octel VM System but I did this on an AUDIX as well in the past. You can have a step within the Vector that states <<Route-to digits with cov y>> from a ,,collect 4 digits from announcement>> command but then that allows the caller to access all the extensions within the switch, VDNs included. By using the VM System you avoid this alltogether. Hope this helped.
