Does anyone know whether or not a StarPlus 2700 or 2800 series phone is compatable with an Avaya Definity switch? The StarPlus phones appear to be "Heavy Duty" phone sets which I am looking for. My concern is whether or not the message lamp would work with the Definity switch and Intuity Audix system.

The Vodavi Starplus 2700 and 2800 series telephones are solid analog, Single and two line telephones. The telephones support message waiting and have message waiting lamps (Selectable for either High or Low voltage). I know that they promote these sets in the hospitality industry and have the message waiting lamp just like any Hotel/Motel PBX would need.
Do you have single line users with voicemail through Audix and message waiting lamps on the single line telephones currently or is this something that your looking at doing? If you already have this set up, I was curious what telephones you use currently?

I'm not familar with how the Avaya single line sets work but am curious as to how they are installed. With the Avaya Single line do you have to wire the 2nd pair for message waiting? Do the other single line products have message waiting lamps but they just don't work with the system? Let me know your thoughts on this.

We do not wire the second pair on any of our sets. The message LED works without the second set on the Avaya sets. The non Avaya sets do have message waiting lamps/LEDs but do not work. I have thought they were not set to work on the same voltage. Not sure.
I am thinking of purchasing a StarPlus set just to test. I have fairly inexpensive pricing compared to the Avaya sets.

One more question, on the Avaya single line extensions do you have stutter dial tone for message waiting as well as the Light on the Avaya telephone? I have a residential Bellsouth line with a MemoryCall voicemail box (CO Based Voicemail)that uses stutter dial tone for message waiting. When I receive a voicemail, I can lift the handset and hear the stutter dial tone and my Panasonic telephone has a message waiting light that comes on. My thought was that the Avaya single line phone could be doing the same?? What are your thoughts?

The single line vodavi's only use one pair ,on most systems if they are two line phones they use second pair ,they are true analog phones ,just like most home phones ,the message lights work on a lower voltage than the ringer ,thats why the message lights shine with the ringing voltage.I would guess the Avaya single line phones described above are digital single lines .
