I have contracted a problem with my Sidekick 2 and now 98. When the curser is on a line of the calendar, only a few characters are visable. If I move the curser to another line, the previous line becomes fully visable and the line the curser is moved to disappears except for the first eight or 10 characters.

I'm starting to think it is a windows 98 driver since it happens on the Sdk98 I just installed. Any guesses??

Thanks.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your response.

I Checked the Starfish FAQ and found nothing that seemed to address this particular problem. It popped up during a time that I was having other problems some of which involved cleaning and trying to drfragment the hard drive. Once I finally completed that this problem with Sidekick showed up. The problem I was trying to solve initially was that at night something goes wrong that causes my hard drive to almost run continuously and extremely slow access. This still happens from time to time almost as though RAM fills and every operation has to go to HD.

In any case, sidekick operates fine, both SDK2 and SDK98, except that if I load information into the calindar, either from the keyboard or from predefined activities, only the first 14 characters are visable, almost as though a line wrap goes into effect. But, when I move the cursor to another line the line becomes complete and if there were information on the line I moved it to that line disappears except for the first 14 characters. If I put the cursoe on an empty line, and just enter characters, the enter fine up to the 14th character at which point they stop appearing. They are there when I move the cursor to another line. This mames editing verry difficult as I can also not see the cursor at all.

Thanks
Don

Dear Don,

There was/is a problem with Win98 and Sidekick98 in that when you leave Sidekick open it gradually uses up the (Stack?) resources.
Right Click and check performance in My computer,
if they fall below 25% you get the message that you cannot proceed without shutting down some programs!
I have found that the only way to recover from this is a hard reboot!
This was discussed in an earlier thread I can't locate it at the moment as I am a bit busy but Advanced Search above should find it.
It appears to be to do with the way the program (SDK) demands, and Windows allocates GDI resources and if anyone has any ideas please post here.
