Starband 480/481 2

I have a Starband 480 and 360. I am having problems with my 360 and in the process of getting it replaced. The 480 sold to me without the CD. Thinking I could download it off the web. How wrong I was. It seems I can download the programming part but not the program that allows me to get my signal strength.

Because of this I have no idea if my no Rx light problems are due to a misaligned dish or bad cable. And if I am able to get an Rx light again if it's got a good signal strength.

Do any of you know of some way i can get a hold of the original CD that came with the 480? Download ISO someplace or something along that line? I would even be willing to pay for one. Starband tells me that they can't even sell me one.

Starband will no longer activate a 480 481 series modem that has not been assigned a modem ID for your use.

You have used the 360 modem. They will allow an upgrade to the nova series if your account is current.

They are also repointing 360 and 480 users to a new location on Echostar 9.

Your dealer will receive a CD for each of his assigned customers that have a StarBand 360 or 480 series modem. It will contain the software and instructions needed for the modem to be reconfigured to the new satellite. The CD should be left with the customer.


All customer sites will be on the vertical polarity on Echsostar 9 requiring all horizontal sites to be re-polarized.


You will also have an opportunity to renew your contract with Starband.

You really should consider upgrading to the Nova series modem. No software and it will come preprogramed from Starband.
