I need to preempt this post by explaining that I don't know anything about Norstar systems for the most part, I do not have physical access to the system. Unfortunately it falls to me to sort it out.

The problem was initially reported to me as users being unable (all of a sudden) to access their voice mail, receiving: "message password combination you entered is not registered"

I've had them power off the Star Talk Mini and power it back on, to no avail.

I found a manual for the system, but am being told that any combination of login/password results in the menu going directly to "EXIT."

This includes using the System Manager password reset function. I'm told specifically:

"Reset pswd: Press Yes
goes to OK, any OK will go direct to EXIT."

Another thread here with the same trouble concluded the reset must be done with a certain type of phone, but I'm told they tried it with every phone in the building.

Short of calling in a pro to visit on site, I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

is it a flash or a mini
what software level

have you tried f980 are the mailboxes there, or is the system fully defaulted
some of the newer flashes needed to do a f903 when first installed

It's a Flash. Not sure of software level.

I will have them try f980 and see what happens.

Do F983
-If states Password then you lost ALL programming and msg's and need to start from scratch.
-If states inactive then do F903 and just say OK to the codes and exit then you need to program from scratch via F983
-If states Log then enter the login info on the guide.

That seems to be exactly the case.

The manual I have states initial setup password for F 983 is 266344, but that may be something specific to the pbx's from
J & J communications who's name is on the manual.

Is there a default password?

The 266344 worked. We're in and rebuilding.

Thank you to everyone.
