I am unable to ping my standby s8700 server or access the standby server from the maintenance web via Internet Explorer. Shouldn't I be able to do so?

Are you on the LAN over dialup to the 8700?
If on dialup, only the active server that you are dialed into will be directly accessible.

I should have said are on you the LAN or over dialup...

I am trying to access via the LAN. When I log in to Web Maintenance, I can get to server A, however when I try to choose the Duplicated Server B, I get the page can not be displayed. So I tried to ping the address for Server B and thats when I noticed it timed out.

I was actually trying to synch the servers to our NTP. Do you know if I can only sync Server A will it cause problems for Server B?

Yes, it will. The servers need to be within a few minutes of each other to sync.

When you use the web interface have you logged in using both server IP address's..? When you set up your servers to the NTP it will sync to both servers not just A.
