standard -font

I want to specify a font for a toplevel and all of its descendants.

Is there an easy way of doing this, instead of specifying the font for each widget?
I couldn't find a solution in the WIKI or help-file.

I tried that:

option add *font {Courier 9}
toplevel .t
pack [button .t.b -text Quit -command exit]

That seems to work on my win2k.

For the Wiki, I found:
option database (
