I have a site with 2 x X450's stacked using the cables all is ok and in and working.

the customer wants to add another, can i just add this to the next port in the stack and power up the switch, will this auto configure as switch 3 or will the whole stack need to be rebooted?

Regards

you can add the new node to the stack, but it will not be active in the topology. you will need to push the stacking configuration out to the new node from the master and then reboot the new node (not the whole stack)

Hi , I have just added two new nodes to an existing stack, can you explain how you push out the config from the master? I have added them to the stack as nodes 5 and 6 but I cannot use the switches. If i do show stack they are listed as active with the correct slot number, this is what I have done so far;

Connected them in with stacking cables and powered on.
Logged into the core

enable stacking node-address **:**:**:**:**:**
reboot node-address **:**:**:**:**:**
config stact node **:**:**:**:**:** slot-number 5
reboot node-address **:**:**:**:**:**

If i do the show stack command I get;
Node MAC Address Slot Stack State Role Flags
------------------ ---- ----------- ------- ---
*00:04:96:36:**:** 1 Active Master CA-
00:04:96:36:**:** 2 Active Backup CA-
00:04:96:36:**:** 3 Active Standby CA-
00:04:96:36:**:** 4 Active Standby CA-
00:04:96:51:**:** 5 Active <none> CA-
00:04:96:51:**:** 6 Active <none> CA-

(5 and 6 being the new nodes).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi motox2k,

Have you synchronized the config with the
"synchronize stacking node-address 00:04:96:51:**:**" command to the new node and reboot the node?

Also check your license-level on the nodes.

You can find the manual to add a new node to the stack on page 176 in the ExtremeXOS Concepts Guide(v12.5).

Hope it helps!
