I have MagicDisc, a virtual CD rom software. Recently, I've noticed the drive X appear to have stale content, no matter how many times I unmount and then mount another image. Drive Y uses the same software but does not have this problem.

Is there some settings in Windows causing this (like marking it as a non-removable drive)?

Thanks!

It might be easiest to just uninstall the program and then reinstall it?

Does it change after a reboot?

This is not talking about virtual drives but it might be worth a read.

Windows XP won't recognize any CDs inserted after boot

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with Explorer.

Try Safe Mode (Do you have this problem in Safe Mode?).

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

No error of any kind at unmount, nothing in event viewer either. I guess I need to switch to a new program.
