I installed SSH1 on a SCO Openserver v. 5.06. When I telnet in using ssh1, the emulation is poor. Someone suggested that I need SSH2 on the Openserver for better emulation and security. Opinions? Thanks, LucyHarley

I use the Skunkware ( precompiled version of OpenSSH 3.4p1 under OpenServer 5.0.5 without any problems. Note that you need the zlib-1.1.4 and prngd-0.9.23 packages too.

I don't think SSH can be blamed for poor terminal emulation though; it is more likely to be your terminal emulator or environment settings. What emulator are you using? What is your TERM variable set to?

Annihilannic.

I have installed the same versions of SCO skunkware ssh, zlib, and also prngd. I am using SecureNeterm, a free download, with emulation set to sco-ansi (or ansi) and keys to sco-console. Do you have any suggestions for settings or for a free or low cost term. emulator? Thanks!

Kermit95 does a very good job of emulations (vt,wyse, ansi, scoansi, etc, etc). The latest versions can use ssh and are true windose applications.

Also check that there are no settings (that you are unaware of) in /etc/default/mapchan and /etc/ttytype for the devices you are trying to use.

on the connection tab of putty you can specify the term
setting, i use scoansi and it works like a charm
