Dear Friends,

We encounted a problem as below: when we tried to open SSC(Symantec system center) console from the program menu, it can not be started and there are no any other response. We checked the process lists and could not find MMC and SSC process, we also checked the event viewer and found no errors, we did nothing at the server side recently. It happened sometimes. We now use MMC to open SSC for a tempory solution. I did found some relative solutions but it is for Windows XP pro. Our OS is Windows NT4 SP6a, and SSC 8.0, is anyone know why so we do not need to uninstall/reinstall SSC?

Best Wishes!

Hi Jack,

In fact, Symantec System Console IS a MMC-plugin, so my guess is that you have a corrupt shortcut. It should say something like
C:\WINNT\system32\mmc.exe /s "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec System Center\Symantec System Center.msc"

But if you open SSC in MMC, you can also use Console -> Save As... to save it and create a shortcut to it. Or create a new shortcut to the file "Symantec System Center.msc" in your Symantec directory.

So many solutions available, pick one! ;-)

cheers,
hanz.
