Guys,

Hopefully someone can help or at least have some thoughts on.

Basically we some times have a circuit bounce which drops for a few seconds every few weeks / month (no big deal!) however this switches the phones from normal mode to local and disconnects any active calls from doing so.

Not sure if we have a configuration issue or not!?

What I don't fully understand is why the active calls should be dropped as after the call is established it is set between the SRG and branch office handset?!

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Steve

a ckt that bounces one a year is a problem.. (unless you work for a cell company).. get the ckt fixed or look at your clocking

a circuit bounce"

If your circuit bounces, then packets cease flowing across it. Doesn't matter if it is Branch set to Main Set, Branch set to Main PSTN or Main PSTN to branch set. If the road is closed the mail aint gonna get delivered.

Hi John,

Thanks for response. We are in the process of pushing the provider for reasons why the circuit bounces! The line has been tested by the tail carrier (provider uses 3rd part local tail carrier) and every time they test it comes back clean it will then run clean for a few weeks then out for a few seconds.

In January for example it has bounced about 6 times in total for 5-8 seconds each time. It’s pretty random it can go clean for a week then bounce then bounce two days after then go clean for another week or so. Happens anytime of the day.

The clocking is currently set to line.

Aside from this we were still wondering if this SRG behavior is correct as it seems very odd (basic) that it drops considering the call is handed back locally between the SRG and branch office handset after the call is established.

Any further thoughts very welcome!

Cheers

Steve

SRG IP phones are using resources at the Main Office (CS1000), the CALL SERVER AT THE MAIN SITE provides the call processing at the SRG site. If you sever the link, then you go to local MODE.......

I take it that the user places a call and then the call is routed out the SRG Trunks right? If that is the case your phones are registered to the main node and when you loose that connection you loose the call server connection at the main site which is responsible for call set up and tear down. Even though you are talking from IP set to the SRG for routing of calls you are utilizing the IP trunks between the main site and the SRG. You loose the connection on the circuit there is no way for the call server to keep the call alive.

I agree with John, what you need to request is an end to end test on this circuit. Tail end carrier only tests their part of the circuit not the entire thing.
